As far as mall Asian food goes this place is top notch. The service is unmatched. The taste is unbeatable (in this food court, or any other), and the price is spot on. I always get the Umi Chicken, rice, spring roll, and chicken fingers. A huge pile of food worthy of two meals for $8. The green beans are superb, and the Crab Rangoon doesn't need to be avoided like most food court sea food should. The noodles are never too greasy and somehow the manager (who is always there) knows how to keep the food in constant rotation making sure every thing is fresh. (You will often hear him attest to this fact). He's very personable. If there isn't a line he engages in conversation from varying topics such as tattoos to shoes. I have actually driven the half hour to this mall from my house just to get dinner here. Now here's your pro-tip. Always say to go. The boxes they give you hold more food than the plates, and while it's always a good value that little bit extra never hurts.

Great food the staff was very nice. I was very surprised to get such good food at a food court at the mall.

Umi of Japan, was a good choice for lunch while shopping at Emerald Square. I had a two-entrée combo; rice, teriyaki chicken & mixed veggies. What sold me on this eatery is that the food looked really fresh and not like it had been sitting under heating lamps. I really liked the teriyaki chicken, the rice was ok. As for the veggies, they seemed a bit too soggy for me. However, I would defiantly give Umi of Japan another try.

A take out place located in the food court of Emerald Square. The name is Umi of Japan but it's not really Japanese food so don't expect sushi. More of a typical take out Chinese place with the General Tso chicken, fried rice and veggies things. They do have spring rolls and the shrimp and chicken tempura is actually very good. Not exactly gourmet food but for a food court in a mall exceptionally good.

I have been going to this Umi for years. The food has never failed me and the staff there are always friendly. I don't think there has been a time where I have been to this mall where I did not choose Umi as my food of choice, and the fact that it is only one of two restaurants in the food court (the other being burger king) that have stood the test of time and remained open since the Mall existed shows that this place is great. I usually get the Umi Chicken (a MUST have) and regularly change up my side between Rice and Lo Mein.

SO affordable, and Super Yummy. Love The Umi Chicken!

For a food court restaurant this place is really good. I only went to this place because of yelp reviews and I was happy that I went. I rather go to a real restaurant, but if your hungry and inside the Emerald Square Mall than this is a good spot.

Umi is great!! I have a friend who lives right over the line in Pawtucket and this chic is addicted. I get a kick out of the fact that she's never eaten general tso's chicken. It's basically the same thing! I always get the umi chicken, barbeque chicken and rice. I love how fresh the food is. Always nice crisp veggies in the fluffy rice. By far the best mall food court food around!

I worked at the mall for about eight years and I had many a meal at Umi and I still love it. Sometimes I will drive to the mall just to get a plate of umi chicken, fried rice, and the BBQ chicken. The man who owns it is so nice and so friendly. After all these years, he still remembers me from working at the mall. Plus when you are there get a large soda. The thing is bigger than your head!

Got the special for $5. Needed some quick food and this was my pick. Excellent food and great portions for the price, also friendly staff.

Really great food and service!! The owners are very friendly and are always ready for a conversation. I enjoy the noodles and umi chicken which are unbeatable. Being a regular is great! This is good considering it's mall food.

The workers are very rude here. They have certain specials and then try to make you get more food when you really don't want it. And then when you get the special you can't use a credit card because they have a minimum amount you have to spend. And there's no arguing with them and they force you to get more food that your just going to throw away.

I always tell myself that I am not going to get Umi when I go to Emerald Square but I always get the Spicy Umi and fried rice. I have been to other Umis before but this always takes the cake. Like the guy who runs it "Always nice and fresh"

if heaven was on earth it would have to be this place.

For fast Asian food it can't be beat and it crushes the rest of the food court at Emerald Sq Mall. For those not in the know it is essentially a caramel-sesame chicken fried like a General Tso....mucho tasty. The service has always been a step above as well, with friendly folks on the service line.

For Asian cuisine at a mall this actually rocks! The dude there keeps his food fresh and it is pretty good! If you happen to be in that food court you can't go wrong grabbing a bite there!

For Asian food you'd find at a mall food court, this can't be beat. I would say the best food at the food court here. There are times where my wife actually craves their food, but I think it may be an excuse to go to the mall for some shopping.

My friends and i have often traveled to the mall just for the UMI chicken... i have never been disappointed you cant beat the price and its fast and convenient . and i kind of want some right now.
